Naked Ultimate Basics – Swatches & Review

So after debating between Naked Basics and Naked 1 at the Urban Decay counter, I finally chose the Ultimate Basics palette which I am happy I ended up picking up!
The bottom row is honestly perfection to me, it’s just missing a shimmery inner corner colour but I can’t really complain as it’s an all matte palette.

When I swatched this palette at the counter I was SO shocked, because I’ve been so used to chalky drugstore eyeshadows (no shame in them, I’ve just been too poor and had to make the most use of them over the past few years)! and not being able to afford high end so I honestly felt like I was in eyeshadow heaven.
I couldn’t believe how pigmented and smooth they felt for a matte eye shadow, I didn’t think it was possible. They really feel like smooth, pastel powders that are finely milled with one swipe, strong pigment.

I think this palette was beautifully designed, the patterned rose gold embossed palette with a huge mirror and a fantastic duo brush is a perfect combination. Speaking of the brush, It’s great, it does a perfect job of applying and blending colour and the smaller side is good for under the eye and doing precise eyeshadow application, the buffer brush blends eyeshadow like a dream and it feels high quality.

I’ve had a good play around with this palette experimenting with the warm and cool shades and making the most of the variety, I’ve found that these eye shadows have a long staying power, they don’t fade or crease and they blend like butter. I would say even for a beginner they’re very forgiving and lots of looks can be made from a smokey eye to a neutral or warm toned look. I can’t fault this palette honestly, it’s perfect both cool/warm toned people.

I’m not going to lie, my swatches aren’t the best but hey! It shows how pigmented and great the colour pay off is. My personal favourites are ‘Extra Bitter’ and ‘Magnet’.

I don’t own any of the other naked palettes, I was debating my next purchase to be Naked 1, 3 or the smokey.

Which is your favourite Naked palette, and what’s your thoughts on this palette?
